Demolition and re-construction of this iconic builing in Cork’s city centre.
Refurbishment of this flagship development for Dunnes included for all new building services elements within the Grocery, Clothing and Textiles departments, working to an aggressive programme.
This project was initially designed based on geothermal heating and cooling systems. However, site ground conditions (structural instability) meant that this solution had to be aborted. A CHP unit was installed which meets a constant regrigeration load in the grocery, while the waste heat offsets the constant heating load in the refrigeration section of the Store.
Key design elements comprised of:-
- Construction of new basement
- Passenger lifts, escalators and conveyors
- Geothermal heating / cooling system
- CHP Unit
