St. Vincent's Hospital, Mountmellick

St. Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick, Co. Laois This project involved the design, procurement using New Form of Government Contract and project supervision of the installation of hot water pipework throughout a live block within the hospital to create a system that mitigated the risk of legionella.

We were required to replace pipework and sanitary-ware in ward area’s while they were occupied. The project required the replacement of the hot water system in the main kitchen of the hospital also whilst the kitchen continued to function.

In this live environment not only is there a large logistical challenge additionally there is a substantial risk associated with modifying water supplies and generating dust and the prevention of the spread of aspergillus in a hospital environment.

Tullamore Library

Noel Lawler Consulting Engineers are Consultants for the major reburbishment and upgrade works at Tullamore Library.

Features of this project included major alterations and refurbishment of the existing building to increase the floor area of the library to provide a larger children’s section and a new teenager section in the library. The construction of extension to create a new front for the building and rear extension including a viewing platform.

NLCE Working at Bord Na Mona H.Q in Newbridge

This project entailed the refurbishment and a new 600m2 extension of existing Bord na Mona group head quarters office. The services element included upgrade of the existing centralised boilerhouse, new heating, natural ventilation and energy efficient lighting scheme.

Ardgillan Community College

Noel Lawler Consulting Engineers have recently been appointed as Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Consultants for Ardgillan Community College, Castlelands, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.

The project consists of an extension to the existing school of approximately 1,800m sq, plus associated site works and will accommodate up to 1,000 pupils overall on completion.

The Black Abbey, Kilkenny

Noel Lawler Consulting Engineers were involved in with the conservation of the building and implementation of energy reduction measures was the main focus on this project.

The building had no life safety or property protection systems installed, it was also poorly insulated and draughty.

A new wireless fire alarm system, emergency lighting utilisng LED fittings and installation of “A” rated boiler & heating controls have now been installed. Architectural measures include fabric insulation to reduce heat loss infiltration.
